Greg Paulus Commits To Syracuse: PSU Fans Suddenly Care
One of life’s greatest questions was finally answered today: Greg Paulus officially announced his intention to play football for Syracuse this fall. The former Duke point guard will be vying to be the Cuse’s starter at quarterback after not having played a single down since graduating high school four years ago.
Given how pathetic the QB situation is at Syracuse (last year’s starter has since been demoted in favor of a redshirt freshman who has yet to throw a collegiate pass), there’s certainly a chance that Paulus could see significant playing time when Syracuse visits Happy Valley on September 12th.
This is great news for PSU fans who have complained about the lack of an exciting and challenging non-conference schedule, as Syracuse may not only sport America’s most hated Duke player not named J.J. Redick, but also feature a half-decent QB who might keep the game intriguing for more than a minute.
Of course, winning the starting job for Paulus will be much easier said than done. He’ll have to re-discover his passing touch, learn the playbook, adjust to the speed of the college game, and most importantly: Resist the urge to step in front of oncoming linebackers and flop.
